The sun was shining on Wednesday morning when we left Eureka. We knew the weather was iffy going home but decided to travel east on 299 as originally planned so that we could have a night camping along the river and enjoy a nice campfire. The road down to the campground was steep and narrow and at first we passed it before turning around on the chance that we could get down to the riverside camp. It was quite easy and the campground was completely empty so we had our choice of sites. As soon as we were settled, Mo built a nice campfire and we spent the rest of the afternoon just enjoying the fire and a nice supper of fire heated enchiladas. Deborah drove to the resort a couple of miles down the road for more firewood so we had enough to roast marshmallows before going to bed in the beautiful dark and quiet night.
