05-19-2021 To La Pine State Park

It was less than two hours to travel from our Pictured Rock Pass boondock to La Pine State Park where the predictions for snow were much less than farther east. It was overcast and dreary when we arrived, and with the very crowded park and the thick trees and featureless landscape, we wondered about our choice. Later in the afternoon we decided to explore and found many lovely trails with views of the Deschutes River. The next morning dawned cold and clear and we explored a bit more before the snow flurries returned and the skies turned gray once again. The hike along Falls River was delightful and we were completely alone.
